Players

Adding, selecting and moving players; their Movement, Action and Graphic tracks; how to use every player menu.

Adding Players

  1. Click Add Home Player (blue team) or Add Away Player (red team) in the top toolbar.
  2. A new player appears on the pitch with the next number in sequence.
  3. Click the player to select it — a ring appears under it.
  4. Click anywhere on the pitch (or drag the player) to move it. With AUTO on, a movement key is recorded.
Tip: Players are numbered 1–11 per side like a real team. If your account has a custom team loaded (File → Teams), the players use that team's names, kit and photos.

Which Way a Player Faces

A player always faces the direction they are moving along their path — scrub the timeline backwards and they still face forwards along the move, not back the way they came. When a player is standing still there is no direction to take from the path, so they look at the nearest ball instead. They keep their eyes on the play rather than staring off along a fixed axis, and the turn is smooth as they come to a stop or the ball moves.

  • With no ball on the pitch there is nothing to look at, so a standing player simply holds the way they were facing.
  • A look target (facing another player, the ball, or an item on the pitch) overrides this completely, for as long as it is set.

Selecting and Moving

  • Click a player to select it. The selection ring follows the player, even during playback.
  • Click on empty pitch (in Place mode) moves the selected player to that spot.
  • Drag the player directly to move it in one gesture.
  • Click empty pitch with nothing selected clears the selection.

The Player's Track on the Timeline

Every player has a track labelled like Player 3 · H (H = home, A = away). Its lanes:

  • Movement — position keys. Between two keys the player runs smoothly along the path you defined (straight, curved or arched).
  • Action — one-shot animations. Click Key Action and pick from Wave L/R, Kick L/R, Header L/R, Shout, T-pose, Walk, Jog, Run, Stand, and more. The player performs it once when the playhead crosses the key.
  • Graphic — movement arrow visibility. Key Graphic places an ON key (arrow shows from here) or OFF key (arrow hides). Click the coloured bar between graphic keys to change the arrow's colour for that window.

This track belongs to the branch you have open — every branch has its own timeline, so the same player can run a different route, action or arrow in each branch. Switching branches commits what you were doing into the branch you are leaving first, so nothing is lost.

On a child branch the player starts where its parent finished: the first key at 00:00 is locked (🔒) and read-only. The master timeline bar above the bottom panel always shows the whole scenario as one segment per branch.

Key Movement

  1. Set the playhead where you want the "from" position (e.g. 0:00).
  2. Move the player to its starting spot — AUTO records the key.
  3. Move the playhead to 0:05.
  4. Move the player to its second spot — another key is recorded.
  5. Play — the player moves between the two spots over 5 seconds.

Shaping the Movement Path

Click the segment between two movement keys to open the movement editor:

  • Straight — a direct line from A to B.
  • Curve Left / Curve Right — the path bends sideways; use the bend slider (0–1) to control how much.
  • Arch (ball only) — the ball lifts off the ground in the middle of its flight; use arch height and arch peak to shape it.

Height is not in this menu — it belongs to the keyframes. Click a movement key (no drag) to open its height editor and set how high off the ground the player is at that key (0–10 m, 10 cm steps). The player glides between the heights of consecutive keys: arrive at 2 m and the following move starts from 2 m. Set the key back to 0 to return to the ground.

Changes apply live — no save button needed. The motion is always smooth (it eases in and out naturally with a sine curve).

Making the Arrow Visible

The glowing arrow along the path only shows while the player's Graphic track is ON:

  1. With the player selected, click Key Graphic at the second where the arrow should appear (creates an ON key).
  2. Click Key Graphic again later to create an OFF key — the arrow shows only between the two.
  3. Click the bar between the keys to change that window's arrow colour, or reset to the team default (home = blue, away = red).

Copy & Paste a Player

With a player selected, the bottom bar offers Copy. Copy grabs the player's full configuration (position, movement style, arc, colour). Then select another player and use Paste to choose where to apply it: Previous (all keys before the playhead), Current (the playhead), or Next (all keys after). The app refuses to paste a player's data onto a ball or zone, and vice versa.

Removing a Player

Select the player and press the remove option in the File/Edit menus (or the keyboard shortcut shown there). Removing a player also removes its track and keys from the timeline.
